What are your credentials and past experience for working in your position?
Besides having 20+ years of experience as a project manager, I bring the ‘typical’ German values such as punctuality, striving for perfectionism, and precision.
I’m tri-lingual (English, German, Spanish), which helps me understand different cultures and their different ways of looking at things.
I’ve been working with different departments of BMW, such as engineering, logistics, controlling, finance, sales, and marketing, so I have a solid knowledge of the processes of automotive manufacturers.
What do you like about working at S44?
First and foremost, the people here. Everyone is committed and passionate about what they are doing throughout all levels and departments. In my position, I have the freedom to make my own decisions and take responsibility for my projects and teams.
Everybody here is allowed and encouraged to speak up to any topic; no one will ever tell you, “Hey, that’s not your business.”
What’s your background?
I was born, grew up, and spent most of my life near Munich, Bavaria, Germany. After earning my diploma as a Mechanical Engineering for Aeronautics and Astronautics, I started working for an IT company in Munich. I soon found that everything related to project management is what I want to do moving forward.
For almost 20 years, I’ve been working for this company and managed various projects with BMW headquarters.
In 2017, I started working for Sulzer in Germany, and in 2018 I relocated with my family to the US to begin working for this organization.
I have two wonderful 6-year-old twin boys that I spend most of my free time with.
What do I miss most here in the US? Bavarian beer and a “real” pretzel” (sorry US folks, but there is nothing like a Bavarian pretzel).
What are the values that drive you?
Honesty. That means being authentic, not hiding anything to make you look better (or make others look worse).
Reliability. Keep your promise, and if for any reason you can’t, let people know and find a solution.
Awareness. The people working here are our greatest asset. However, we should be aware that everyone is different and has different ways of approaching things.
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” - Matthew 7:12
